The Paxtang-Swatara Library is an all-volunteer organization that is funded by Swatara Township, the Paxtang Lions, and individual donations. The Library is not part of the Dauphin County Library system or government-financed. Donations are always welcome. If you would like to support the library, please send your check (payable to “Paxtang-Swatara Community Library”) to 3700 Rutherford St, Harrisburg, PA 17111. Thank you!
A volunteer Board of Directors manages the Library. They purchase new books, organize the volunteers, and run special programs.
The Library’s collection of books ranges from current titles to old favorites for adults and children. New books are constantly being added. If you would like to suggest some books for the Library to purchase, please complete the Contact Us form. Books can be donated ONLY if approved by a board member; please no not drop off books at the library without checking first.
Books are checked out for two weeks and can be renewed if needed. The overdue fine is 5¢ per day per book.

The Library offers a Summer Reading Program for children who have completed grades 1 through 5. This activity is sponsored by the Paxtang Lions Club.
During the summer, participants read 20 books from the Library and write a brief summary of each book. Older students may choose to read 10 books with at least 100 pages. Each child who completes the program receives two gift cards to a local bookstore, one from the Paxtang-Swatara Library and the other from the Paxtang Lions. Book summaries are due at the Library no later than September 6, 2016.
Children must be a member of the Library to participate in the Summer Reading Program. It’s easy to join – just stop by the Library. Our hours are listed above.
All information is optional; however, if you would like a response, please include your name and a phone number and/or email address.
