Our Summer Reading Program

The Library offers a Summer Reading Program for children who have completed grades 1 through 5. This activity is sponsored by the Paxtang Lions Club.

During the summer, participants read 20 books from the Library and write a brief summary of each book. Older students may choose to read 10 books with at least 100 pages. Each child who completes the program receives two gift cards to a local bookstore, one from the Paxtang-Swatara Library and the other from the Paxtang Lions. Book summaries are due at the Library no later than September 6, 2016.

Children must be a member of the Library to participate in the Summer Reading Program. It’s easy to join – just stop by the Library. Our hours are listed above.

Volunteer

Volunteers are needed to staff the Library when it is open, primarily to check out/in books and shelve returned books. Training is provided. People are also needed when vacancies occur on the Board. If you would like to volunteer, please complete the Contact Us form.
